About Lisa
Jun 30th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | Comments OffI like to tell a good story.
Over the years I’ve interviewed a lot of people, each with their own perspective on their communities and their place within it. Taken together, these individual stories provide me with a fuller picture of Canada and its citizens. What we like (Twitter, YouTube), what we don’t (strident political ideologies) and what we want (cheaper cell phone rates).
I have spent the bulk of my career as a writer and editor, mainly with the New Brunswick Telegraph Journal. I have been a regular contributor to a number of regional CBC radio programs and have appeared as a commentator on both CBC and CTV.
In 2003, I joined Dr. John McLaughlin, president of the University of New Brunswick, in creating Next NB/Avenir NB, a two-year public outreach initiative that highlighted New Brunswick’s economic, cultural, social and demographic challenges and suggested options for New Brunswick’s future. I wrote 10 papers on New Brunswick and hosted 16 public forums across the province, listening to people’s ideas for their province.
I’m now a freelance writer, living in New Brunswick with my husband, young daughter and our cat, Maceo.
