He also misses that most of these papers already ARE specialized: Locally! They need to build on that more rather than trying to tackle the whole universe from... ehm.. New Brunswick? ;-). On top of that this behavior wouldn't leave enough topics for all the papers AND it would create another "monopoly" position. Ergo, newspapers would end up in the same crisis they are going through right now.
